Kris Nimrod Davis Palacio Cabigas, or Borgie, bagged the title of Mr. Cebu 2009, besting 14 other hopefuls. The said event was held last November 28, 2009 at the Pacific Grand Ballroom in Waterfront Cebu City. He received a fifty thousand pesos (Php 50,000.00) cash prize from Bong Bantillan - founder, producer and director of Mr. Cebu and chairman of BCB Production.

Borgie is the son of the late Pilarico Cabigas, former Barangay Captain of Tambongon, San Remigio, Cebu. Borgie is a Department of Science & Technology (DOST) scholar taking up education major in Physics and Chemistry at the University of San Carlos and part time worker at night in a call center as a customer associate executive.

During a one on one interview with his mother a day after Borgie was proclaimed Mr. Cebu 2009, she said that the best advantage of her son is not only his good looks but also his confidence and very honest and humble answer during the Q & A portion. When asked who became his role model and influence throughout his journey in the whole event, Borgie answered that his it would be his late father. He may not have received any minor awards prior to the finals, but he made it to the top nonetheless.

When Mayor Mar and Vice Mayor Nino knew that a certain San Remigiohanon got proclaimed as the winner of the Mr. Cebu 2009, they of course felt very proud said that they would like to meet him. Paterno Muñez, San Remigio’s tourism officer, wasted no time and immediately scheduled him for a courtesy call to the office of the mayor last December 18, 2009.

During his visit here at the Municipal Hall, he offered his service and told the mayor about his plans in the municipality. According to him, he will ask for support from their production to source out fund from the corporate sponsor to finance the mangrove plantation. He will also endorse the tourist sites here in San Remigio for free. He will volunteer as Municipal Ambassador for Goodwill.

The Mayor graciously accepted the proposals and thanked him for visiting his office.
